On this page you will find information on how to work effectively with Sonoma County Tourism, how SCT operates, and some interesting facts about how the tourism industry benefits our economy.
"The perfect pitch: How to sing to the media"
We had college professor and National Geographic travel writer come do a master class on how to best pitch your story to travel media.
See how to talk to the media and present ideas about your business so travel writers will get your story out there.
"How to work with travel media"
Sonoma County Tourism hosted award-winning travel writer Megan Singleton to teach "How to work with travel writers." If you missed her sold-out seminars, don't despair. You can learn what you are doing right (being friendly but not overbearing), what you are doing wrong (not having any information for her, bad photos) and what you can start doing right away (hotels - why not throw in a breakfast so the travel writer writes about you, and not another restaurant?).
Because you make Sonoma County a desirable travel destination, we want you to be involved in our efforts of attracting more media, resulting in positive travel stories being generated worldwide. We need your help as we assist increasing number of journalists. In order to connect you, our partners, directly with writers who are visiting Sonoma County, we’re producing the Sonoma County Journalists Handbook, which will be available to qualified journalists.
This is your chance to showcase your business to an even larger number of journalists. Journalists who receive the handbook will contact you directly to redeem the offers. An offer can be a free wine tasting and tour, a 60 percent-off media rate for lodging, a free meal, or even 60 percent off a spa treatment. The choice of what to offer is yours. This is your chance to show journalists the best of what you offer.
Offers are submitted through the Partner Extranet. If you do not have a login, lost your password, or are not sure you have a member record, please email email@example.com. Please read: How to add your offer for the Journalist Handbook (pdf)
It's like speed dating, but with the entire Sonoma County Tourism team. You get five minutes to tell us about you, we get five minutes to ask questions.
Only 5 businesses participate in the hour-long meetings that help us learn about you and helps you learn about us. PIPs happen monthly and are free.
To sign up send an email to Kristin Clark, firstname.lastname@example.org, or leave a message at 707-522-5813.
This page includes tutorial videos on how to update your member record on the Sonoma County Tourism Partner Extranet. For those of you unfamiliar with the term “extranet”, this is the place where your business information is shared exclusively with Sonoma County Tourism to promote your business.
The information you provide will be used to update your business profile listing on www.SonomaCounty.com. It will also be used for the Sonoma County Visitor Guide, various marketing programs, and for our sales efforts for meetings, group travel and weddings. And because we assist hundreds of journalists per year, we will use it to tell your story to travel and business media.
You can also download this handy User Guide (pdf), to help you through each step of the process.
If you would like to schedule training for the Partner Extranet, please contact Beth Snow at email@example.com or 707-522-5811.
