If you’re searching for a special treat, the relaxing, pampering and healing powers of Sonoma County spas enhance your wine country vacation.

Here you can heal through water, wine, soil, and spirit in more than 40 spas and wellness centers. Below are just a few examples. Find all Sonoma County spas in the spa listings and filter by type, location and amenities.

Spirit: Refresh your mind and renew your spirit with spa treatments that offer a quiet journey. Many spas offer gardens to enjoy before or after your treatment.

Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary is the first spa in the country to offer the Japanese cedar enzyme bath, a rejuvenating heat treatment. The gardens enhance your spirit, an important part of the experience.

Arrive early, change into your robe and have tea in the Japanese garden. The misnamed “bath” is a large tub filled with cedar shavings, rice and active enzymes. You’ll be covered with the mixture for a unique heat treatment. Follow up with a massage or decompress in the hammock garden.

Water: Natural thermal springs, prevalent throughout the area, lend healing powers when you’re immersed in the water. Sonoma Valley’s Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is one of the few spas in the nation that uses its own mineral hot springs in its treatments.

The signature bathing ritual is simply delightful (and in a co-ed pool, so swimsuits are required.) Give yourself enough time to enjoy this before your treatment.

The exfoliating shower will have you laughing at the pressure. This invigorating scrub gets you ready for the soaking pools. The first is body temperature, then a hot whirlpool. A cool rain shower, steam room, dry sauna, and a final cooling shower have you ready for a signature massage.

Wine: If you’ve had a glass of Zinfandel that was so bold and luscious that you wanted to climb in and wallow in it, then Sonoma wine country spas are a good choice for you. The Kenwood Inn & Spa has choices for both white- and red-wine lovers.

You’ll embrace the power of the grape, as you sink into your wine bath. Relax in an over sized tub overlooking the vineyards before your treatments. You’ll feel floaty and relaxed, ready to immerse yourself further into the healing power of wine.

Next, choose a wine wrap and you’re in vino heaven – a hydrating application of grape seed lotion. Consisting of Chardonnay and Riesling oils, as well as red-wine extract, this is heady enough to drink. A combination of clays is smoothed onto your body and you’re wrapped in as a tight, wine-soaked cocoon. This treatment includes a neck, shoulder and scalp massage.

Soil: Nothing connects you to this place more than the county’s fertile earth. A bounty of local products inspires treatments with lavender, goat’s milk, honey, and grape seeds.

Nestled in a secluded courtyard, Le Carré Spa at the Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel saturates your senses with a selection of Sonoma Wine Country-inspired treatments. In fact, the spa uses lavender products produced from lavender grown at Matanzas Creek Winery, mere miles from the spa, in Santa Rosa.

The lavender body treatment includes a lavender-infused bubble bath, followed by a lavender-tangerine butter massage. A body wrap with lavender mist finishes up this transporting experience.
