Enjoy Ice Cream and Pie at Historic Bank Building in Guerneville
When you think of Guerneville in Sonoma Wine Country’s Russian River, you think of history, art, design, ice cream and pie. Don’t you?
That’s what the happy team behind the new Guerneville Bank Club hopes for, at least, with their eclectic collective of art gallery space, a handcrafted pie and homemade ice cream parlor, clothing and home accessories retail space, and a history display of Guerneville compiled by the Russian River Historical Society. That’s actually what their slogan is: “history, art, design, ice cream and pie.”
Pie. Ice cream. Mmmm.
It’s true that the historic building itself is quite spectacular, lovingly brought back to its original, 1921 glory, as a new crown jewel on Main Street. It was closed for the past three decades, but now gleams with hardwood floors, arched windows, and details including original light fixtures and nickel-plated brass push button light switches.
It's the inspired vision of architectural historian/building owner Bob Pullum and consultant/entrepreneur/designer Crista Luedtke (Guerneville’s Boon Eat + Drink, Boon Hotel + Spa, Barrio, Big Bottom Market). The many new murals throughout the building, meanwhile, were done by artist Jessica Hische with handpainting by New Bohemia Signs. For a look at what went into it all, click here.
But pie. Ice cream.
We can thank Chilepies Baking Co. for their flavors like strawberry rhubarb, apricot cherry, or the signature chile apple pie made with sweet apple and green chile filling, cheddar cheese crust, walnut streusel topping, and red chile honey drizzle.
And we can applaud Nimble & Finn’s Ice Cream for indulgences like Bulleit Bourbon with chocolate covered pretzels, cold steeped Melody coffee, lavender honeycomb, and Meyer lemon olive oil with chocolate chunks, plus honey frozen yogurt with rhubarb swirl or vegan strawberry rose geranium sorbet.
