If you’re feeling arty or crafty on this particular weekend, head over to Kenwood (which is a treat in and of itself) and the Home and Garden Crafts Faire. At this free event, guests are invited to peruse the spring show featuring the creative output of 10 Sonoma County artisans including Randy Sue Collins, Patti Fiske, Carol Aspinall, Jo Collins, Lucy Kunz, Marjorie Smith, and Nancy and Brian Roberts. There will be art. There will be crafts and there will also be all sorts of fun things from candles to soaps. [Note: This event will take place at the Kenwood Depot and run for two days only, Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21].

Who doesn’t love playing a little bit of dress up on Sundays? (Or any day for that matter?) On Sunday May 21, Santa Rosa’s swell Vintner’s Inn will be transformed into a swish roaring 20s speakeasy featuring live jazz, casino tables, and tastings provided by Spirit Works Distillery. There will also be silent and live auctions to add to the fun of what promises to be a memorable gala benefitting the Museums of Sonoma County. For more information, click here.

Something about strawberries always makes me think of small towns and good times. And that is particularly why the 12th annual Strawberry Festival in Guerneville (Sonoma’s gayest town) sounds to have all the makings of a fun May afternoon by my standards. Slated for noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, the event promises live music from popular local artists along with strawberry mimosas, BBQ, and strawberry desserts. Yum! Coachella who? Attention oyster lovers, this event has your name written all over it. On Sunday, May 28, make it a Memorial Day Weekend to remember and head over to West Sonoma County for the ninth annual Oysterpalooza at Rocker Oysterfeller's in the Valley Ford Hotel. Expect oysters, BBQ, local microbrews, hand squeezed Margaritas, and live music from three local bands playing Americana, roots and bluegrass. For more information, click here.
