Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate Farm-To-Table Dinner Series 2017

Kendall-Jackson Farm-to-Table Dinner Series

Sip and taste Sonoma County starting in mid-May, when Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens rolls out its annual Farm-To-Table Dinner Series for 2017, with open-air feasts served at a communal table right in the garden, and hosted by KJ’s wine experts, culinary staff and master gardener.

Many Sonoma County restaurants offer farm-to-table cooking. And as area wineries increase their popular culinary programs, we can often enjoy farm-to-table bites with our wine tastings. For Kendall-Jackson, it’s a mix of both worlds, thanks to the elaborate on-site garden at its Santa Rosa estate on Fulton Road just of Highway 101.

The $175 family style dinners are timed for sunset views, following a welcome reception with appetizers. Wines include Kendall-Jackson reserve and estate bottlings, plus a few surprises from the cellar.

For the May 13 kick-off, the line-up includes a spring cornucopia. Guests will gather at 5:30 p.m. for a mouthwatering menu featuring:

Appetizers

Oysters

Cheese & Charcuterie

Asparagus Soup

Dinner

Yellowtail Jack with Snap Peas, Ice Lettuce, Sorrel

Roast Leg of Lamb with Green Garlic, Farro, Fava Beans

Braised Lamb Belly with Spirgarello, Spring Onion

Beets with Pickles Chard Stem, Purple Shiso, Délice de la Vallée

Carrots with Carrot Top Pesto, Pea Tendrils

Farmer T’s Lettuce, with Spring Herbs & Flowers, Fennel, Radish, Fines Herbes Vinaigrette

Dessert

Honey Cake with Fennel Pollen Crème Brûlée, Yogurt Mousse, Honey Gel, Candied Granola, Lemon Crémeux

That “Farmer T” for the lettuce salad, by the way, is Tucker Taylor, formerly of Thomas Keller’s Michelin three-star French Laundry restaurant in Yountville.

Taylor completely revamped K-J’s three-acre winery garden when he came on board three years ago, greatly expanding the crops of vegetables, fruits and herbs, adding boutique varieties of lettuces and artichokes, for example, plus a lavish herb garden outside the new kitchen door, so the chefs can zip out with scissors and harvest whatever they need.
