Michelin Announces Bib Gourmand Restaurants in Sonoma County
Nothing thrills a foodie more than having the esteemed Michelin Guide validate his or her — in this case, me — favorite restaurants with a Bib Gourmand ranking.
In anticipation of receiving comments from friends who will say, “I’ve seen you eat American cheese on saltine crackers. How can you call yourself a foodie,” I’m making this disclosure:
I don’t consider myself a foodie in the sense of “I’m snobby and will only eat unpronounceable ingredients that are harvested at 11:57 p.m. on a blue moon night” kind of foodie. I am a fan specifically of the food scene and chefs in Sonoma County, who work really hard at sourcing local, fresh ingredients and keeping the flavors real.
Michelin announced its list of Bib Gourmand restaurants in the greater San Francisco area this week. Next week, is the highly anticipated release of the Michelin Guide San Francisco 2014. That’s sort of the Oscars of the food world.
This year, 14 Sonoma County eateries were some of the 83 Bay Area establishments that made the list. This is the most Bib Gourmand selections for the region since the San Francisco guide was first published by Michelin in 2006.
The 2014 Bib Gourmands represent restaurants that serve two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less (tax and gratuity not included).
