Mountain House Estate Offers Luxury Wedding Amenities in Cloverdale
Set on 40 private acres and surrounded by rolling hills, mature trees, and resident wildlife, Mountain House Estate offers all the luxuries needed for a Wine Country wedding.
With the many skilled wedding planners available a Sonoma County wedding is sure to be perfect. Still, there are always many tiny details for the couple to think about.
For example, where will the bride and groom get dressed before the ceremony? It may seem like a small consideration, but choosing a venue with proper arrangements is very important for making the day a relaxed occasion.
At Mountain House Estate, an upstairs bridal suite offers an elegant lounge in a palette of cream, white, gray, and silver, while another room is available for the groom. That means that all the wedding couple has to do is get ready, and then descend downstairs for their vows. The suite is outfitted with all the amenities including a dressing room, abundant sofa and armchair seating, a full-length trifold mirror, two make-up stations, a walk-in closet, and a private bathroom.
And in a particularly nice touch, a picture window in the suite overlooks the pond and lawns, so the bride can observe her guests’ arrivals, and feel the energy of her exciting day.
Another detail to think about: does the venue have a wonderful story to share? Imagine how guests will love learning that Mountain House Estate boasts a grand history. Built in 1859 by Mexican-American War Sergeant Major and mercantile maven Alexander McDonald, the home nestles on what used to be the McDonald cattle and sheep ranch.
Its mountain name came because it sits on the highest elevation, at 1220 feet, along what used to be the main road between Cloverdale and the coast. Originally it was a stagecoach stop and rooming house for travelers taking their livestock and crops to the railhead in Cloverdale.
Today, the mansion has been extensive renovated with multiple ceremony, reception, and party areas. As a bonus, it also includes two luxury bedrooms for overnight guests, complete with full baths and private decks.
The estate’s main building features a large great room and a showpiece custom-designed redwood bar, and — think again of practical convenience — restrooms, a prep kitchen, and a separate staging area for the caterer and vendors that keeps staff activity close but out of sight.
Taking things outdoors, couples can add a 40x50-foot shade pavilion or tent on the spacious lawn framed with manicured gardens, an expansive patio, a rustic barn, and a picturesque koi and goldfish pond anchored by a floating lighted fountain.
