New in Montgomery Village: Emily’s Kitchen
There is actually an “Emily” behind the new Emily’s Kitchen in Montgomery Village is at Farmers Lane and Highway 12 in Santa Rosa. She is Emily Nagan, a former employee of Girl & the Fig and Viola’s Pastry Boutique, and now entrepreneur with her own breakfast, lunch, and beer-wine, bar.
Desserts, too – Nagen took home Best of Show honors at lasy year’s Sonoma County Harvest Fair for her lemon cheesecake, and offers other homebaked specialties like Meyer lemon chocolate brownies, carrot cake and gooey chocolate ganache or German chocolate cakes.
Primarily self-taught, Nagan relocated from Minneapolis, Minnesota with her husband, Patrick Stelzner, and three children in 2009. She quickly found some Sonoma County bakeries she loves - Village Bakery and Costeaux French Bakery, and still sources her breads from them.
Everything else, she makes from scratch herself, including homemade granola, daily soups like curried corn chowder, housemade pastrami sliced thick and piled in mile high sandwiches, and specials like bubbling hot pastitsio casserole, housemade ricotta gnocchi with a savory tomato olive sauce and Pecorino Romano cheese, or pork belly stew with runner beans, preserved lemon, roast shallots, carrots and crumb crust.
Breakfast parades out more homemade goodness, too, like ricotta pancakes, corned beef hash, and crispy hashbrowns.
For even more incentive to check out Emily’s Kitchen, Summer Concerts at Montgomery Village run May 9 - September, 2015, including Michael Brandeberg Jazz Trio, Caravanserai, the Poyntlyss Sistars and more. The stage is mere steps from the Emily’s, so make dining on the patio even more fun with a bit of groove! See the schedule for concert line-ups.
