Wine Country Spa at Applewood Inn
This luxury farm-to-spa-and-table adult getaway was perfectly designed with romance in mind. With an acclaimed “garden to fork” restaurant, beautifully appointed rooms and quality spa treatments, Applewood Inn offers an abundance of sensual pleasures.
Owner Carlos Pippa, originally from Texas, was seeking out a post-retirement project when he happened upon the historic inn. “I had two themes I wanted to create: a romantic, quiet getaway for couples and a green environment.”
Pippa has clearly been successful with both as the inn offers romance with a green infusion at every turn.
The 1920’s era Mission revival-style Belden House has been lovingly restored to highlight its historical treasures. Showcasing a stunning river-rock fireplace in its main room and a formal dining room off the library, Belden House offers a wonderful welcome to the Applewood Inn experience.
Many of the inn’s guest rooms surround a more recently built Mediteranean-style courtyard, complete with a bubbling fountain and lush grounds that surround the spa, restaurant, rooms and office.
Just a few steps away, Applewood emphasizes its commitment to “green” hospitality, with an abundant garden that includes eight beehives, 99 chickens (that supply eggs for the restaurant), a variety of fruit trees and produce, and an impressive solar panel array that provides energy to the inn.
The inn’s spa room offers a state-of-the-art steam room and shower as well as side-by-side couple’s massage tables in a light and airy environment that looks out onto the beautifully landscaped courtyard.
On a recent visit, my fiancée and I enjoyed the inn’s many amenities, including an in-room couple’s massage in one of the “spa suites,” featuring a private hot tub, fire pit, and secluded deck overlooking the inn’s beautiful gardens amongst the redwood trees.
Thoroughly relaxed by our side-by-side aromatherapy massages, we ordered a gourmet chicken picnic basket, which we enjoyed on the deck as the sun went down over the garden. After a leisurely moonlit soak in the hot tub, we gazed up at the redwood trees overhead and marveled at the peacefulness and quiet of the evening.
Fine Italian linens and a comfortable bed left us refreshed the next morning and ready to partake in the complimentary breakfast served in the inn’s beautiful dining room.
After one last visit to the Applewood Inn gardens, we were ready to re-enter the world refreshed and renewed. Get a taste of this great wine country inn and spa by watching this new video from Applewood Inn.
