Sebastopol: A Wellness Destination
You won’t have to look hard to find healthy offerings in Sebastopol, a wellness destination in Northern California. This small town in the west county of Sonoma has an abundance of everything from yoga and massage to organic cocktails and raw foods. Begin your day with a delicious smoothie or matcha latte, then enjoy a spa interlude or a Yamuna Body rolling session at the gym.
You’ll feel the bliss the moment you walk in the door of Annie Courouba’s Bliss Organic Day Spa. Curated with an artist’s eye, this “organic spa” is beautifully designed with a soft blue and silver color palette, set against a back-drop of sky and sea themed art. Treatments and practitioners are top-notch with a focus on quality and attention to detail. After recently experiencing their Bliss Signature Massage and the Anti-Aging facial, I was left feeling thoroughly relaxed and free of any stress and tension.
It’s no surprise that Bliss Organic Spa has been rated the number one “Skincare Spa” from the local North Bay Bohemian paper four years in a row. Extra touches like offering high quality tea from local company Taste of Tea and their complementary “make your own” bath scrub are what make the Bliss experience stand out above the rest.

Stop in at the Nectary for a super food infused smoothie made from organic and locally sourced ingredients, a cold pressed juice, raw food snack, or a hot chai or matcha latte. The “Queen Bee” smoothie made with bee pollen and local honey is great for staying allergy free or try the “Empowermint” blend and enjoy a delicious chocolate minty treat. The Nectary also has a wonderfully curated retail area with healthy chocolate truffles and cookies, a variety of superfood supplements, organic beauty products and more.
Ramen Gaijin not only offers the best ramen in the North Bay, they also feature a variety of small appetizer or “Izakaya” options that showcase the best of the seasonal and local ingredients available. Vegetarian options include their rich Shitake Miso Ramen with tofu and seasonal vegetables, while meat eaters will enjoy the Spicy Tan Tan Ramen with pork belly. The craft cocktail menu features spirits from local favorite Spirit Works, as well as a variety of creative drinks inspired by Japanese cuisine. This popular Sebastopol hot spot doesn’t take reservations, so a half hour wait is typical most nights, but the amazing food and hospitable staff are worth it!
