Early Music Christmas: An English Celebration
Sonoma Bach’s 5th annual Early Music Christmas features English repertoire, interwoven in a spell-binding evocation of the mysteries and joys of the season. Their oldest repertoire of 14th-century carols provides the second layer. Motets from the late-Renaissance flowering of English polyphony include works by William Byrd and Thomas Tallis. Christmas movements from Handel's Messiah are woven through the concert. Featuring soprano Jenni Samuelson, cornettist Steve Escher, organist David Parsons, and the Sonoma Bach Choir, directed by Robert Worth.
A BachGrounder is held 35 minutes before each concert to learn about the music and instruments featured.
Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.
