I Hate Hamlet, Sept. 22 - Oct. 9
In this hilarious play, actor Andrew Rally seems to have it all: celebrity, a rich and beautiful girlfriend, a devoted agent, the perfect apartment in New York where famous actor John Barrymore used to live, and a chance to play Hamlet in Central Park. But the truth His TV series has been canceled, the girlfriend is clinging to her virginity, and Andrew... well, he hates Hamlet. But Barrymore’s ghost still haunts the apartment, and pressures Andrew to accept the Hamlet role to fulfill his actor’s destiny. Gary, a producer-friend from LA, offers Andrew a fabulous new TV deal worth millions of dollars. The laughs keep coming as Barrymore wrestles with his sword and Andrew wrestles with his conscience, plus the fact that he fails as Hamlet in Central Park. Playwright Paul Rudnick says “I HATE HAMLET deals with all of our secret dirty thoughts concerning high art; we’ve all dozed through our share of Shakespeare. I HATE HAMLET celebrates the theater, in all its artifice and happy dementia.” Sept. 22 through Oct. 9: Thursday – Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
