Forestville is in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma Wine Country, an area well known to wine lovers for the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that are produced from grapes grown among the rolling hills of the area. A bit more spread out than other parts of Sonoma County, Forestville rewards the intrepid traveler with scenic vistas and small roads worth discovering.
Here are four wineries to find in Forestville:
5700 Highway 116 N., Forestville, 707-887-3344 Tip: This winery includes an onsite restaurant, offering a Wine Country dining experience in an historic 1890s farmhouse. It makes a good spot to take a break when exploring west Sonoma County.
8075 Martinelli Road Forestville, 707-887-8010 Tip: Try the Signature Exploration with a boxed lunch. Reservations are required for this, but it's a good way to try six wines paired with great Wine Country cuisine. (Boxed lunches are not available November to March.)
2916 Laguna Road Forestville, 707-573-3747 Tip: The popular Pinot and Syrah are worth a visit, but finding the driveway can be a trick. Though the address is 2916 Laguna Road, the tasting room driveway and entrance are located on Trenton Road. Rather than veering right from Trenton Road onto Laguna Road, keep left staying on Trenton and the driveway will be just past the old farmhouse on the west side of the road.
6542 Front St., Forestville, 707-820-1621 Tip: One of the newest tasting rooms in Forestville, this winery got its start in a family garage in 2006 with two French oak barrels, a small basket press, and one ton of Russian River Valley grapes. Now it produces 2,500 cases of exceptional wines each year.
