Sonoma County welcomes locals and visitors with a wonderful array of activities year-round, but summer can be especially busy with dining and winery fun. How thrilling is it? Here’s a snapshot of just one single day and night - Saturday, August 17 - to give you a taste of the amazing activities awaiting you:
The al fresco wine dinner party showcases a Sonoma County's cornucopia of summer fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and other regional delicacies, hosted on the Winery Chateau lawns. Toast the evening with Jordan Cuvée by Champagne AR Lenoble and hors d'oeuvres, then tuck into a multicourse, wine paired dinner from winery chef Todd Knoll, as he celebrates fresh ingredients sourced mainly from Jordan's local farms. The meal will highlight a combination of traditional French and modernist cooking techniques, with each dish matched with various vintages of Jordan Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Tickets are $200 per person.

Martorana Family Winery Farm to Table Dinner, 5 p.m.
The team at Martorana Family Winery is putting together a bountiful feast of Sonoma County sourced fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and other local summer delicacies for an al fresco wine dinner party. Tour the rustic stone winery while sipping 2017 Chardonnay and nibbling hors d’oeuvres, then settle down for a multi-course, wine paired dinner crafted by chef Lisa Boisette of The Cook and the Drummer. Join Alexander Valley Vineyards, deLorimier, HANNA, and White Oak wineries for this festive afternoon of wine and barbecue. Each winery will be offering a flight of five wines, plus delicious barbecue pairings, and after visiting all four wineries, you get to vote on who has the best line-up. Your $50 ticket ($15 designated driver) scores you a keepsake Taste Destination 128 wineglass, all the wine and barbecue enjoyment, and voting rights; voters will be entered into a raffle for a gift basket filled with winery goodies. Russian River Beer Revival and BBQ Cook-Off, Noon to 5 p.m.
This 17th Annual gathering and fundraiser features more than 40 breweries, 30 BBQ teams, and two bands - all welcoming you to the beautiful Russian River at Monte Rio Beach. As the organizers say, you’ll “leave fat and happy!” Santa Rosa folks, make it easy, and catch the shuttle bus departing from 5th street behind Russian River Brewing (725 4th St., $15 fee). Tickets are $100.00 VIP or $75.00 General Admission, and proceeds benefit the Guerneville Seniors Center. Please note that tickets are pre-sale only, no door sales.

Amphora Wine Blending Experience and Family Dinner, 5:30pm
Learn how to blend your own delicious wines, led by Amphora winemaker Rick Hutchinson. You’ll sip and test, and craft a blend of Rhône varietals Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The event ends with a playful judging competition by fellow wine blenders, with Hutchinson declaring the final winner. Then, sit down to an al fresco, Rhone inspired Southern French dinner served family-style accompanied by more Amphora wines. Tickets are $110 per person.
