Classic Car Service for Sonoma County Weddings
In the old days, a bride and groom might be living the lavish life if they departed their reception in a limousine, decorated with balloons and a “just married” sign in the window.
But modern Wine Country weddings demand more style, and for that ticket, it’s DB Autosportif of Sonoma at your service. Perhaps your ride will be a rare, cherry red ’59 Jaguar XK150 DHC Coventry with five-speed stick and a six-cylinder engine. Or maybe you’ll choose a silver-gray ’60 Chevrolet Corvette Eddie Roadster, or a ’62 Buick Electra 225 Johnny Convertible.
As the dream of a trio of entrepreneurs with backgrounds in the race car industry and luxury retail, united by a passion for classic sports cars, DB Autosportif even offers the opportunity to fly down the twists and turns of country roads in a 1965 Ferrari 330GT 2+2.
The company debuted last summer with a fleet of 15 cars, and more are being added as primary owner Richard Martin discovers worthy collectibles.
It’s easy to picture the bride in a convertible, her veil flowing behind her like a gossamer parachute, or the groom donning leather driving gloves as he takes the wheel of a ’63 Porsche 356B Birgit Cabriolet, en route to the honeymoon.
But imagine taking the entire bridal party out for a pre-wedding wine tasting in one Autosportif’s newest additions, a vintage VW bus. Or piling in the party for the rehearsal dinner, or just sight seeing.
As part of its concierge service, Autosportif maps out spectacular scenic drives around Sonoma County, such as Dry Creek Road with its suggested stops at an eclectic collection of wineries including Seghesio Family Vineyards, Passalacqua, A. Rafanelli, Dutcher Crossing, Bella, Ferrari-Carano and Siduri Wines.
The concierge will help make reservations at wineries and restaurants, and even offers some wedding-planning assistance such as recommending photographers
To keep things convenient, Autosportif happily delivers cars to its customers, be that a hotel, or the wedding chapel.
And in case anyone needs an idea of that perfect hotel fitting a classic car experience, here’s are some thoughts: Vintage Towers in Cloverdale is a quaint Victorian bed and breakfast that makes one think of The Great Gatsby; the Inn At Occidental in Occidental offers a 16-room estate worthy of gleaming automobile parked in front; and a Ferrari would feel right at home at the ultra-posh Kenwood Inn and Spa of Kenwood.
