Dine at the New Harvest Eatery and Gourmet Pantry in Petaluma
California cuisine has long focused on clean eating, and Sonoma County is particularly rich with health-conscious dining. Chalk it up to Wine Country’s abundance of farms, ranches, orchards, dairies and ocean waters supplying the freshest natural ingredients.
The new Harvest Eatery & Gourmet Pantry in Petaluma is a prime example of the increasingly popular dining concept. Focusing on healthy, locally sourced meals in a fast-casual format, the menu serves up a variety of salads, quinoa and brown rice bowls, sandwiches, smoothies, and larger entrées like a gluten-free, vegan, pasta-free lasagna of eggplant, zucchini, squash, tomato, garlic, thyme, rosemary, and basil.
Guests can dine on the patio, or inside at polished wood tables and booths. It feels cozy, with brick walls, dark floors and a huge landscape photo mural. Guests can also get dishes to-go, or purchase grab-and-go items.
Owned by The Patio Group of San Diego, Harvest works with Wine Country purveyors including County Line of Petaluma, Zoe’s Meats of Petaluma, and Tomales Bay Foods.
The ingredients are crafted into noshes like a Southwestern Power Wrap of tofu, brown rice, black beans, romaine lettuce, carrot, corn and cilantro in toasted cumin dressing; or an Antioxidant Salad of baby spinach, shaved green apples, Valencia oranges, dried cranberries, toasted walnuts and pomegranate dressing.
Meat lovers aren’t left out, either. A Poke Bowl marries marinated tombo tuna with brown rice, mixed greens, avocado, wasabi aioli, Fresno peppers, scallions, sesame seeds and soy glaze; while a Roast Beef & Blue bring tender beef layered with shaved red onion, Pt. Reyes blue cheese, horseradish aioli and arugula. A larger entrée of grilled flat iron steak is served with roasted potatoes, Blue Lake beans, garlic confit and balsamic reduction.
Smoothies are chef-crafted as well. The Harvest OG refreshes with its bright flavors of strawberry, banana and cold pressed apple juice; and the Green Gaucho is a spicy veggie treat of kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, parsley, arbol chile and cold pressed apple juice.
For something different, the Acai Smoothie Bowl is a spoonable treat of strawberry, banana, blueberry, blackberry, coconut, hemp seeds, honey granola and cold pressed apple juice.
