Feeling lucky at the Graton Casino

Feeling lucky? If so, you'd be in good company in Rohnert Park where crushing crowds gathered on Nov. 5 to inaugurate California's largest and newest casino - Graton Resort & Casino. In fact, as the buzz would have it, the initial throng of well-wishers were so great in number that the barely open casino had to temporarily shut its doors to deal with the crowds.

Indeed, no matter how you slice it, things just got a whole lot livelier in Sonoma County with the grand opening of the Graton Resort and Casino which boasts 3,000 state-of-the-art casino slots, 144 table games, and a no-limit Live Poker Room all in a completely smoke-free environment.

Gaming aside, for the more epicurean-minded, the Graton Resort also brought along with it a whopping 13 new restaurants.

Among the new eateries making a splash at the splashy opening were: M. Y. China from PBS-renowned chef Martin Yan; Tony Gemignani's Tony's of North Beach; and DK Wings from former Cyrus chef Douglas Keane.

Other restaurants include the Daily Grill, 630 Park Steakhouse, Slice House, Boathouse, Beach Hut Deli, La Fondita, Roadside BBQ, and Habit Burger Grill.

Along with a veritable boatload of new restaurants the opening of the Graton Resort and Casino also saw the debut of three new bars — a high-energy bar called Sky; G Bar, for sports watchers; and a 'VIP Lounge' known as 8. Moon.

Talk about a bevy of new options for things to do on a Saturday night in Sonoma!

And though there is no hotel attached to the actual casino, the Graton Resort has partnered with a number of local Sonoma County and Rohnert Park hotels to offer its patrons convenient accommodations at preferred rates which include special discounts available only to loyal Graton Rewards members.

Hotels nearby include: The Doubletree by Hilton Sonoma Wine Country, The Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel & Spa, Hampton Inn & Suites Rohnert Park, and the Sheraton Petaluma, among a host of others. Browse all hotel listings.
