Fun Events This Summer in Sonoma if You're in Your 20s
With the summertime right around the corner, there are events stacked up every single weekend in Sonoma County for the next three months. The question is: what are the best ones if you're in your 20s?
Although we've already covered the best beer and wine events as well as the best music festivals and events in Sonoma County if you're 20-something, we wanted to include a round-up of events that aren't beer-focused, wine-focused or music-focused.
These events are all unique in their own respective categories, and are guarenteed to be a whole lot of fun if you're in your 20s:
Guerneville, June 2-4
Celebrate Pride & LGBTQ rights in one of the biggest gay rights pioneering cities in Northern California: the small redwood forest town of Guerneville. For its 30th year of celebrating the gay community, Sonoma County Pride will be a full weekend event. The official festivities start the evening of June 2 with Billy Gilman and Steve Grand in concert in nearby Rohnert Park. The morning of June 3 will include a march and solidarity rally in Guerneville, and June 4 features the beloved Unity March & Parade Celebration in downtown Guerneville. It's fun, it's funky, it's pride. See more here.
Windsor, June 10-11
If you're brave enough to wake up at the crack of damn and head to Keiser Park in Windsor, you'll see a spectacular sight of a whole bunch of hot air balloons rising into the morning sun together. The main launch takes places at 6:30am on both Saturday and Sunday, with about 30 balloons in the launch. Get tickets here.
Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, Petaluma, June 21-25
The annual Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma is a fun weekend event with some notably great free concerts every year. It includes the World's Ugliest Dog Contest on June 23, which is a must-see if you're headed to the fair that day.
Lavender Month Events
Matanzas Winery, Santa Rosa, May to July
SOMO Village, Rohnert Park, July 8-9
For the first year ever, the SOMO Village is putting on a 2-day weekend of yoga, wellness and community for all ages to enjoy. This festival will include over 30 different workshops and yoga classes for you to experience and enjoy, plus indoor and outdoor yoga rooms with speakers, DJs, music, great food, and a beer garden. This event is going to be awesome! See more info here.
Sonoma County's newest Wine Country comedy club, The Laugh Cellar, is opening its doors in July with a kickoff three-day comedy festival. Each day will feature stand up comedy, great wine, craft beer, good food, live music, wood oven pizza, five minute chair massages, the comedy bookstore, meet the comics, meet winemakers, and after parties. See the lineup and get tickets here.
Petaluma, July 22
Explaining Rivertown Revival is like trying to explain Burning Man. It's impossible. And similar. This festival is focused around the arts community, and there's even an art boat race and parade to match. This all-day festival is filled with music, art, food, drinks, and local vendors of all kinds. Learn more here.
Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Santa Rosa, Aug. 3-13
Delicious food, fun games, cold drinks, and the hot sun: Who doesn't love a day out at the fair?! The Sonoma County Fair takes place this year in August, fully equipped with free concerts, their large carnival (bonus: cotton candy), the monster trucks and demolition derby shows and of course the annual horse racing. Get tickets here.
