Make Your New Year's Eve in Sonoma Gay

Having a gay ol' time in Sonoma County on New Year's Eve requires but a little planning away. Here are three great options for ringing in 2016 in Wine Country that promise to be both gay and festive:

Dine at the Village Inn and Restaurant

Book a reservation at the Village Inn and Restaurant on the banks of the Russian River and bask in the classic charm of the property. Famous for the scenes from the 1942 film, Holiday Inn, starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire, which was shot at the Inn, and the Academy-Award winning song 'White Christmas' that it inspired, the Village Inn and Restaurant is perennially filled with good cheer.

On the menu, expect farm-to-table favorites celebrating the bounty of the local community along with an award-winning selection of local Sonoma County wine and craft beers lauded by the likes of the Wine Spectator, Sonoma County Harvest Fair, and Sonoma County Winegrape Commission.

Spend a Romantic Evening at the Applewood Inn

Book in at the gay-owned Applewood Inn for a romantic evening surrounded by towering redwoods, plentiful fruit orchards and staggering gardens. With just 19 rooms and suites, a getaway at the Applewood Inn is the perfect option for couples who are quite happy to ring in 2016 in a serene and peaceful environment, far away from the fireworks, razzle dazzle and generally high-pitched debauchery that will denote most big city celebrations.

Though the Inn's famed Applewood Restaurant is currently undergoing renovations and will be closed until its reboot with a new face and a new theme in April, breakfast will continue to be offered to guests throughout the transition and dinner options abound in Guerneville. That said, I would suggest a picnic by the fire in your room at Inn, followed by fireworks of a more intimate nature. How romantic is that? Just a suggestion. (You're welcome.)

Go Red
Join the festivities in the heart of gay Guerneville at the Red Party, R3's New Year's Eve option or head over to McT's Bull Pen for karaoke with the locals. And when the party's over stay local in some of Guerneville's most gay-friendly accommodations.

Wishing you a New Year filled with gaiety and good times!
