Alison Krauss effortlessly bridges the gap between musical genres like pop, rock, country and classical. The most awarded female artist in GRAMMY history, she has released 14 albums and has sold more than 12 million records to date. Wednesday, October 10
The Growlers, a band based in LA and Orange County, have forged their own path on the music scene. They’re the party band that started in 2006 and has grown into a traveling circus that spawned their own hit event in Los Angeles called Beach Goth. More details can be found on Facebook.

Friday, October 12
The Soweto Gospel Choir celebrates the unique and inspirational power of African gospel music. The Green Music Center’s summer concert series may be over, but Weill Hall will be hosting South Africa’s Most Heavenly Voices for the second time. Expect a performance of spiritual and gospel tunes, with rousing drum beats sure to have you dancing in your seat. Tickets available online.

Chimera Art Space in Sebastopol
This inaugural event will showcase DIY music and instrument makers in the Sonoma County community and beyond. There will be exhibits, lectures, demonstrations, hands-on activities and performances that focus on the creativity and ingenuity of our maker community. La Plaza Park in Cotati
The town of Cotati will host their annual Oktoberfest event this October. With German food, beer, wine, live music, and dancing, there is something for everyone. Events include a yodeling contest, stein hold contest, costume contest, and wiener dog race. In addition, the band Alpiners USA will be playing traditional Oktoberfest music, including polka! Over 11 years and running, this two-night Halloween event is back with more eclectic fun than ever before. Friday night will be dedicated to live music and performance art, with Gypsy latin rock from Diego's Umbrella, eccentric Americana from local favorite Buck-Thrifty, folk guitar from Shovelman, and timeless burlesque from Cabaret de Caliente. If you are looking for other musical Halloween shenanigans, make sure to check out Jake Ward and North Bay Cabaret’s Quantum Cabaret on Halloween weekend. With an emphasis on live music, this show will feature, Van Goat, a high energy swing/punk band from Oakland, Oinga Boinga, an all-female Oingo Boingo tribute band from Oakland, and The Hubbub Club, a twenty piece brass marching band from Sonoma County.
