Pride and Laughter: 18th Annual Sonoma County Pride Comedy Night

You've got to laugh a little, cry a little, Until the clouds roll by a little, That's the story of, that's the glory of Pride.

Okay so that is somewhat of bastardization of the lyric from the classic Benny Goodman hit 'Glory of Love' but allow me a little creative license as you must admit it that the sentiment does capture the rollercoaster of emotions that can typically accompany a weekend of Pride events. With that said, on at least one evening this year in Sonoma tears of laughter, pride and joy will commingle when three talented, award-winning comedians take the stage at Santa Rosa's Wells Fargo Center for the Arts as part of the 18th Annual Sonoma County Pride Comedy Night on Saturday, June 1st.

Marga Gomez, who likes to refer to herself as 'one of the first openly single lesbian comedians in America', will dole out her signature brand of humor as the headliner of the special evening of comedy which promises to be uproarious. And given that Gomez is a GLAAD Award-winning comedian who has been featured on HBO, LOGO and Comedy Central and was named 'Best Gay Comedian 2012' by the Bay Area Reporter there is little doubt that she will disappoint.

Joining Gomez on the evening's bill of fun will be San Francisco Bay Area comedy scene newcomer, Justin Lucas, whose 'absurd' rendition of the song 'A Whole New World' from the animated film Aladdin promises to hilariously astound and lesbian stay-at-home soccer mom cum comedienne Regina Stoops, who has some unique insights about raising children, being married (or not), aging parents, health care, special education, mini-van motoring and the grocery store to share with a potty trained audience.

Two shows, at 6:00 and 9:00pm, will be presented in the Lytton Rancheria Grand Lobby at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, 50 Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa.

All seats are reserved, with cocktail tables (4 seats per table, $45 per seat) and standard seating ($35 per seat).

Tickets and more information are available by calling (707) 546-3600, or in person at the ticket office.
