Santa Rosa Marathon 2015
Runners: A trip to Sonoma County can offer you more than just a relaxing, amazing Wine Country experience; add in a world-class running event — the annual Santa Rosa Marathon. The wine and spas will be there after you cross the finish line.
The yearly Santa Rosa Marathon has something for everyone:
- With a full marathon that’s a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon, it’s a favorite among top racers.
- Its half-marathon appeals to runners who want a good challenge or are training to run a full marathon.
- Its 5K race is a major hit with all other runners.
- And, not least, the accompanying afternoon Beer Festival is a major crowd pleaser not only with runners and their cheering friends or relatives, but with anyone else who wants to join in.
Full Marathon: The full marathon starts at 6 a.m. on South A Street at Fire Hydrant #54, adjacent to Santa Rosa’s Juilliard Park.
The course winds through downtown for 2.5 miles, and then along Prince Memorial Greenway, which edges Santa Rosa Creek, for 5.5 miles.
After this comes a 12-mile paved loop through rural Sonoma County. At mile 10 marathoners run through DeLoach Vineyard and Winery grounds — right through one of the barrel and fermenting rooms, in fact.
