SOMO Concerts bring big names to Sonoma County this summer

Summer brings more shows than ever before to the SOMO Village in Rohnert Park, which has become one of Sonoma County's most versatile music venues over the past five years.

Where former Agilent buildings stood near Sonoma State University, there is now a pop-up festival called SOMO Concerts. Past performers here have included Lucinda Williams, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Los Lobos, Ziggy Marley, the Goo Goo Dolls, and John Popper from Blues Traveler.

A Soon-to-be Sonoma County Staple

In addition to national headliners, Second Octave, the management team behind SOMO Concerts, is dedicated to the Sonoma County music scene. For example, last year's EarleFest — an annual outdoor music festival benefiting the Earle Baum Center for the Blind — featured a second stage with local musicians such as the Timothy O'Neil Band, Dirty Cello, and more.

The 2018 SOMOA summer concert series continues the momentum, with four shows already lined up and a few more to be announced soon. This summer the solar-powered outdoor venue has something for everyone.

'The venue is perfect for all ages, and kids under five are free. You can choose to be right in the middle of it or relax to the side in a variety of environments,' says Bryce Dow-Williamson, marketing director for SOMO Concerts and CEO at Second Octave.
