Holiday Lights on the Sonoma Plaza

From Chanukah to Christmas to New Year's Eve, there are all sorts of holiday happenings in Sonoma County to get you in the festive mood.

For that hometown flavor, go to a tree lighting or holiday parade. Take in a holiday performance, concert, or see one of several renditions of The Nutcracker. Stock up on artist and artisan-made gifts found in many craft fairs around the area. Check out events at area wineries. Visit a tree farm to get a freshly cut Christmas tree.

Gualala Arts Festival of Trees

Take a step back in time to the ambiance of Christmas past. Handmade crafts, a gingerbread house contest, activities, live music, and more. There will be daily visits from Santa Claus, along with Mrs. Claus, his sleigh and reindeer and a snow flurry direct from the North Pole!

Santa’s Riverboat Arrival

Get in the festive spirit with live entertainment while waiting for Santa and Mrs. Claus to arrive at noon by tugboat in central Petaluma. The special holiday guests will make their way across the shopping center parking lot where they will be available for family photos and Christmas wishes in their special tent. 

Model Trains Spectacular

Nov. 24 - Jan. 7
The historical Healdsburg Museum presents a fun, annual holiday display. This year, spectacular Lionel scale-model trains are featured in small-town winter settings from the mid 1940s to the 1960s. 

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides

Each weekend from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve, you can enjoy a complimentary horse-drawn carriage ride around Santa Rosa's charming, historic Railroad Square. Take a ride between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and 11 and 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Weather permitting.

Petaluma City of Lights Driving Tour

Dec. 1-28
Take a self-guided tour of beautifully decorated homes and businesses throughout Petaluma. Maps are available at the Petaluma Visitors Center or online by the end of November.

Petaluma Holiday Open House

Join Downtown Merchants for a festive and fun day around town. Great shopping deals, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, horse and carriage rides through scenic downtown, Morris Dancers, hot apple cider, face painting, balloon art, treats, and more.

Luther Burbank Holiday Open House

Tour the Burbank home decked out in Victorian holiday finery inside and out. See the latest exhibit and shop for unique items in the Carriage House Museum and Gift Shop. Free parking is available and you can take a free ride on Rosie the Trolley to and from the Handmade Holiday Crafts fair held at the Finley Community Center.

Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Grove

Stroll through a fun and inspiring grove of decorative Charlie Brown Christmas Trees on Windsor Town Green.

Sebastopol Holiday Home Tour and Artisan Boutique

Each of the homes and the historic 1909 schoolhouse on this tour will display holiday spirit in its own unique style, showcasing family history through collections of holiday artifacts, and family traditions. Shop for unique gifts crafted by local artists at the Artisan Boutique, running all weekend. Local food will be available for purchase.

Santa Rosa Santa Run

The Santa Rosa Santa Run brings a day of fun for the whole family with a 5k Run/Walk (timed) and Merry Mile (not timed), and a festive finish in Santa Rosa with cookies, milk and music. Participants are encouraged to dress up as Santa Claus - one Santa suit is provided per registration entry - or one of your favorite holiday characters or traditions.
