Romance is in full swing in Sonoma Wine Country, and with February 14 falling midweek this year, there are two weekends of love-orientated events and activities for celebrating your loved one.

Jungle Love

Learn all about the love lives of wild animals at Safari West's 17th Annual Wild Jungle Love “Amour” Party! The Wild Jungle Love event takes place the weekend before Valentine's Day, Feb. 10-11, and is guaranteed to be a date to remember. After enjoying a romantic meal at the Savannah Cafe, you and your special somebody will set off on a private Animal Amour tour — an adults-only adventure that delves deep into the romantic lives of animals. Fine Dining Ideas

Sonoma County’s fine dining options take a romantic turn with special menus offered over the week of Valentine’s Day.

The Coast Kitchen at Timber Cove Resort in Jenner has a special four-course menu and guests can enjoy a complimentary champagne cocktail and choose to enhance the meal with wine pairings. Chef Francesco Torre has created a heartfelt dinner menu at Canneti Roadhouse Italiana — start with a glass of Iron Horse Sparkling and fresh blood orange juice and savor the romantic atmosphere. Fog Crest Vineyard offers a Valentine’s Day dinner complete with caviar to start and chocolate to finish. The candlelit meal features a special menu by Chef Barbara Hom. At scenic Notre Vue Estate Winery, Chef Austin Perkins has come up with a love-inspired dinner, and winemaker Michael Westrick will guide everyone through the food and wine pairings.

Many Sonoma County wineries are offering very special pairings and more.

Share the Love at the Paradise Ridge Winery tasting room in Kenwood on Feb. 10 and 11, where a wine educator will guide guests through a flight of four wines paired with a deconstructed beet soup, enhanced four times over with sensuous toppings.

The Family Wineries Dry Creek collective will be pouring their fine wines and sharing a wild mushroom bisque and a chocolate truffle on Feb. 17 and 18.

Sample the perfect Valentine’s wines paired with sweet and savory bites at Simoncini Vineyards Feb. 16-18, when they will be offering complimentary pairings with their Estate Rose, Select Zinfandel, and Robusto Late Harvest Zinfandel.
