Wedding Transportation in Sonoma County
Since there are more than a million acres and more than half of those acres being gorgeous open space, wedding transportation in Sonoma County can vary greatly from venue to venue depending on your interests.
The beauty of hosting your wedding in Sonoma Wine Country is that you can find yourself in a somewhat remote location, and getting around often is a scenic part of the plans.
So think about relaxation, entertainment, and safety as you whisk your guests from a central parking area to a seclude mountaintop or ocean bluff. It’s actually easy, when you adventure out with a winery-savvy local guide and/or chauffeur. Even if you’re only taking your guests to a countryside winery, think outside the box. You’ll have a wonderful time riding in a limo, but also in a horse drawn carriage, or even a retro school bus.
You’ll learn more on your journey, too, since your driver or guide can answer questions about the sights you see. And since no one in your merry group is driving, you can pop that sparkling wine cork on the way.
Wedding Transportation by Trolley:
The views can be even more magical through open-air windows, and the journey becomes almost as much fun as the destination. While this trolley car is an authentic, old-fashioned replica of vintage 1890s San Francisco cable car, it has modern appointments like an iPod dock and rockin’ sound system, meaning drive-arounds can become rolling parties. The drivers tend to be playful, cracking jokes and keeping everyone laughing, all the while pointing out landmarks and sharing Sonoma County stories. There’s a six-hour minimum, and trolleys don’t go off-road, but a charter can be an extra delight if you ask your guests to arrive early, then surprise them with a stop at a winery or two on the way to your wedding.
Operated by City of Santa Rosa, Rosie is marvelous for your wedding, as the entire Bridal Party can ride together to the chapel and reception. Powered by environmentally friendly clean burning natural gas, it can hold about 25 people seated, and go nearly anywhere in the City of Santa Rosa. Think of the photo opportunities with the beautiful, old-fashioned wood and brass vehicle, the whimsy of a clanging trolley bell, and the convenience of air conditioning and wheelchair accessibility.
Wedding Transportation by Horse & Carriage:
Cody and Cheyenne are big, beautiful blond tour guides – and okay, they are Belgian draft horses, but they still love flirting with their guests. The horses can stroll through the actual vineyards, while your coachman guide shares local lore and insider’s tips. This is for smaller groups, of course, but what fun to have guests park at the end of a country lane, then clip-clop to rural barn setting for the ceremony; a most memorable shuttle service, indeed. Add in “welcome to the party” glasses of sparkling wine and some chocolate-covered strawberries, too.
Wedding Transportation by School Bus:
What a fun way to make a wedding entrance, with everybody giggling on a honest-to-goodness school bus. Each bright yellow chariot carries 40 people, and you can rent enough buses for even the biggest wedding. The average school bus rental is up to 50% more economical than renting a coach bus, too.
Wedding Transportation by Car/Van/Limo:
With one of California’s largest chauffeured fleets - ranging from hybrid sedans, Lincoln Navigators and stretch limos to 56-passenger motor coaches – there’s no party too large or too small for this company. An on-staff concierge coordinates every detail, such as roses and sparkling wine in the vehicle, and bonus: PLT is a member of Green Ride Global, and has committed to GHG emissions reductions of 20 percent over the next 5 years.
