Where the Boys and Girls Are in Sonoma County

For a look at gay happenings and meet ups in and around Sonoma County on an almost daily basis, one great resource is Sonoma Boys Night Out (SBNO), a comprehensive listing of activities and events specifically targeted to the LGBTQ community.

From regular meet ups like Out and About, a group that meets weekly at A'Roma Roasters coffee house in Santa Rosa's Railroad Square, to a weekly Santa Rosa Fun Run, where locals (and those who want to get to know them better) get together for a three-mile run along the Prince Memorial Greenway, to Walk This Way, an hour-and-a-half walk around Howarth Park, Sonoma Boys Night Out offers a pretty detailed outline of who's gaily doing what, when and where on a monthly basis.

The site also offers a little bit of something for everyone. In addition to meet up groups, SBNO also lists significant LGBTQ nightlife activities like karaoke nights in Guerneville, disco dances in Sebastopol, movie nights at local theaters, and even local support group meetings.

That it allows guests to RSVP and visitors to see just how many people have RSVP'd and who those RSVPs are for any given event is a particularly nice added bonus. Knowledge is after all power.

But perhaps best of all, SBNO also provides important links to local and international LGBTQ resources as well as to gay and bi newsgroups which should help visitors to Sonoma County feel immediately connected to all the information they need in one place.

And although the site is called Sonoma Boys Night Out, it bears noting that the ladies aren't left out of the mix of resources included on the site. Because, as mentioned above, SBNO also links to local resources like Out and About Santa Rosa, which provides information about all the LGBTQ activities in the Santa Rosa area, it covers all the bases.

So if you want to know where the boys (and girls) are hanging SBNO is a great place to start your search.
