Where to Enjoy Free Corkage in Sonoma County

Dining out in Sonoma County can be even more delightful — and an excellent bargain — when you bring your own wine. A generous ‘BYOB’ policy at our restaurants includes everything from free corkage to a small charge that usually runs around $5 to $15.

One local group, Winegrowers of Dry Creek Valley, even offers vouchers for free corkage at a variety of restaurants, if you purchase a bottle of wine from one of their many participating wineries.

Corkage, of course, refers to the service restaurants supply for opening your wine, perhaps chilling it, providing glasses and pouring the wine throughout your meal. Certainly restaurants profit from wine sales, so offering corkage, even at a fee, is an extremely guest-friendly amenity not found in many other U.S. areas.

Please do call in advance to check corkage policies, since restaurants’ policies are subject to change. Also, keep in mind that you should bring quality wine to enjoy, not bargain wine just to save money, and please do not bring in a label that is already on the restaurant’s wine list. Please remember to tip your server on the cost of the wine, as well.

Cheers!
