Fort Ross, one of the main tourist attractions between Bodega Bay and Fort Bragg, is a California State Historic Park showcasing a historic Russian-era fort compound that has been designated National Historic Landmark status. Located eleven miles north of Jenner on California Highway One, one of the most scenic coastal routes in the world Fort Ross is surrounded by sandy beaches, panoramic coves, and redwood forests, with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

The Fort Ross Conservancy bookshop sells a fantastic variety of interpretive items relating to Fort Ross natural and cultural history. We stock a fine selection of books related to the park, in particular field guides to local flora and fauna, historical nonfiction, and a childrens' book section with stories that center around both the Russian and Kashia people.

In addition to specialty books, we carry a wide variety of Fort Ross and Russian-American memorabilia, t-shirts, and ball caps, as well as locally-sourced hand-made wool hats and sweatshirts if the weather turns on you. We make every effort to support the many local artists who live in our community by selling local jewelry and a great selection of notecards. Due to health laws we can only sell pre-packaged food and bottled water, but we do carry Russian chocolate!

The staffers are all local with extensive knowledge of Fort Ross, so please stop by, say hello, and don't hesitate to ask them questions. All gift shop proceeds go to furthering interpretation and research at Fort Ross.

Fort Ross State Historic Park is open every day from 10 am to 4:30 pm. The park grounds are open from sunrise to sunset. Between November 1st and March 1st the park will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, and closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. For details on scheduling a private tour, please see Fort Ross Conservancy's Tour information.
