Golden Nectar Farm is a 2.5 acre ever-evolving model of a sustainable lifestyle with more than 150 varieties of fruit, extensive gardens and food production, a PV solar system, a straw bale retreat hut, an outdoor cob kitchen, a “hen mobile”, and an intentional community process. Golden Nectar Farm is a living laboratory for sustainable habitation, ecological agriculture, and restorative community.
Our farm tours can be tailored to your interests. Some possibilities that you will encounter: A hand built straw bale casita – an example of natural building using salvaged and local materials
An outdoor cob kitchen with a wood-fired oven, rocket stove and fire pit
A 4.8 KW solar system and Eco-Shake® roof
An orchard with dozens of varieties of stone fruits, apples, pears and other unusual fruits
Examples of grafted trees at different stages of development
A no-turn compost system
A worm bin with worm tea catchment
A mobile chicken coop AKA “hen mobile”
Several permaculture principles at work
Medicinal and culinary herbs,veggies and edible flowers
Tasting as you go
Fresh produce is available for purchase 8 months of the year. Nursery plants available – table grape and berry starts, medicinal and culinary herbs, interesting perennials. Farm Tours – $15.00/person, $30.00 minimum, children under 18 are free. Special group rates available. By appointment only. Golden Nectar Farm is also available for horticultural therapy, retreats, school groups, classes, workshops, and special events.
