Gather in Sonoma Campaign 2019: Business Development Opportunities

Sonoma County Tourism has developed a new marketing campaign “Gather in Sonoma” which will run from November to January to attract visitors during this beautiful time of year. SCT is executing this campaign through public relations, social media, advertising, events, as well as travel trade and group sales initiatives. We have created a variety of opportunities to help you connect with your key audiences while leveraging the Sonoma County brand  Life Opens Up. Thanks for your partnership! Let’s #GatherInSonoma.

Option 1: Travelzoo

Components: Sonoma to be included as a “Featured Destination”
Flight Details: December 2019 through January 2020
Partner offer: provide a deal (ex: 35% off, or buy three nights get the fourth for free, etc)
Included in Buy In: Partner would be included in and receive the following:

  • “Top Deals Handpicked by TravelZoo” section of the featured destination page
  • Promoted email that would be sent from TravelZoo and will include their featured offer

Media Visits:

Deskside Media Tour – Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento) November

The Sonoma County Trio will be traveling to the Bay Area the week of November 18 to meet with local media. 


Deskside Media Tour – Los Angeles, December

The Sonoma County Trio will be traveling to Los Angeles in mid-December to meet with local media. 


National Media Events – NYC, January

Sonoma County Tourism representatives will be traveling to New York City to attend the International Media Marketplace on January 23. In conjunction with the media day, the PR team will also be hosting an intimate media reception (approx.. 10 guests) on January 22 and participating in an event with Visit California at Meredith Headquarters on January 24. 


Individual Visit Campaign

SCT will be hosting media and select influencers ongoing. Opportunities for hosting will be shared via Publicity Alerts. If you’re not currently involved in the media handbook, please connect with the Sonoma County Tourism PR team, who can share more on how the program works.

Partnership opportunities to participate in the opening reception as well as the post even FAM that SCT will host immediately following the conference.  Open to hotel partners as well as destination partners.  Pricing will be dependent upon participation level and will include some in-kind options as well. ABC Global Services Marketing Campaign

Co-Op: Dates TBD

ABC is a leading hotel program for over 11,000 travel agencies globally. SCT is sourcing a marketing campaign to drive hotel bookings across the winter/early spring. As part of the campaign additional co-opportunities will be explored for partner buy-in. For more details contact: Jaimie du Bois


Virtual Sonoma County Trade Show: Feb 26 & 27, 2020

Total partner opportunities: 19
Location: Sonoma County

This is not only a first for Sonoma County but also a first for a US destination, to host a dedicated ‘virtual trade show’ providing an opportunity to get in front of hundreds of at-home travel agents based in the USA and Canada. All the benefits of a traditional trade show yet accessed by computer from the comfort of your office.

As a participating partner you will have your own virtual booth and log into the “trade show”  for three hours each day, where you will chat (type-based chatting) with agents to promote your business, share pictures, videos and brochures and answer questions about your products (hours, best times to visit, how to book, etc.).   

At the end of the trade show, each partner will get a detailed report including name, agency, contact, materials downloaded, and a copy of all chat logs. Sonoma County Tourism will also supply each partner with the complete list of agents that signed up for the trade show. For more details & to confirm participation contact: Jaimie du Bois


International Account Manager & Client Familiarization (FAM): March 21-26, 2020

Partner Opportunities: Various
Location: Sonoma County

This FAM will host the Account Managers from our contracted International Offices (Canada, UK & Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia & Australia) plus four top selling travel agents from each country to an in-depth experience of Sonoma County.

Partner opportunities will include hosting accommodation, tastings, experiences and transportation in addition to a select number of buy-in activities that will allow partners to network with the participants on a deeper level. For more details contact: Susan Takano


U.S Travel Association IPW: May 30-June 3, 2020

IPW is the leading international inbound travel trade show hosted annually in the US. It is a national showcase of America, where U.S. travel exhibitors connect with travel trade buyers from more than 70 countries to promote their product, negotiate future business and build relationships.
