Histories and Healings: A Dance Theater Experiment Encore
Where or when does personal history become social history? How can we use art to heal into the present? Two friends from diverse backgrounds reflect on their experiences of family, culture, and trying to feel at home in Santa Rosa since the 1960’s.
Using dance, drumming, singing and storytelling, Nina Galin and Jim Marchbanks will take the audience on a literal journey through the History Museum. They perform stories of their respective black and Jewish families, and their own tales of swimming against the cultural mainstream. Who is welcome in Santa Rosa? How can we welcome ourselves?
There are two performance times: Thursday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m., or Sunday, July 15, at 2:00 p.m.
