Tides Wharf Winemaker Dinner with Villa Italia
The Bay View Restaurant at the Inn at the Tides is excited to welcome Villa Italia’s proprietor Lorenzo Scarpone to the upcoming Winemaker Dinner on October 12, 2018. Passionate about food and wine, Lorenzo established Villa Italia in 1989, importing fine artisan-made wines from the largest wine-producing country in the world, Italy.
Lorenzo Scarpone and The Tides’ Chef Luca D’Oria present a tour of the finest quality, authentic Italian cuisine and wine.
The journey begins by the sea with a fine seafood salad of chilled diver scallops, wild prawns and Monterey calamari, paired with 2016 Pierpaolo Pecorari Pinot Grigio from the Venezia Giulia region.
Next, Chef Luca prepares a delicate Duck Egg Carbonara with La Quercia Guanciale, paired with Lorenzo’s own 2010 Scarpone Tribute “Colline Teramane,” Montepulciano D’Abruzzo. This wine is a special tribute to Lorenzo's father Vincenzo, presenting the culmination of a generations-old dream of the Scarpone family.
The main course, is Roasted Tagliata, or sliced beef with a Barolo glaze, served with two DOCG certified wines, a 2013 Garesio “Serralunga D’Alba” Barolo and the 2016 Casa Alle Vacche “I Macchioni” Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
The dolce or “sweet” finish is Semifreddo ai Cantucci with chocolate fudge and orange anglaise paired with La Montecchia “Fior D’Arancio” Sparkling Moscato.
