Rockpile Vineyards opens Healdsburg tasting salon
The new Rockpile Vineyards tasting lounge in downtown Healdsburg features small lot, single-vineyard wines from the Rockpile Vineyard itself, as well as fruit sourced from other spectacular vineyards nestled high above the fog in the Rockpile wine region in northern Sonoma County.
The Rockpile appellation gained official American Viticultural Area (AVA) status in 2002, and the Rockpile Vineyard in that wine region is located on the historic 800-acre Rockpile Ranch, established by Tennessee Bishop in 1865.
Although there was a vineyard on the property in 1872, for more than a century the property was used mainly for sheep and cattle ranching. The vineyard was planted again in 1992. Rockpile Ranch is now the newest property in the Wilson Artisan Wineries family of boutique Northern California wineries. The Rockpile Vineyards winemaking team includes Diane Wilson, Antoine Favero, and Chris Barrett.
