Kamen Estate Wines was established in 1980 by screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen, author of such seminal films as: The Karate Kid, Taps, The Transporter, Taken, and The Fifth Element. With the check from his very first script sale, Robert bought 280 acres of pristine wilderness on the Sonoma side of Mount Veeder, and enlisted viticulturalist Phil Coturri to plant 40 acres to vine in the fractured volcanic rock soil. Renowned winemaker Mark Herold has been part of the Kamen story since the 2003 vintage, joining Robert and Phil in producing intense, balanced, terroir-driven wines.Â
