The story of Michel-Schlumberger began in 1979, when Swiss native Jean-Jacques Michel planted the first vines at the estate in Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley. Drawn by the region’s ideal climate and rugged terrain, Michel envisioned the canyon contours of Wine Creek as the perfect canvas for crafting expressive varietals and distinctive wine styles.
In 1991, Jacques Pierre Schlumberger—descended from a 400-year-old Alsatian winemaking lineage—joined the venture. Together, they built a brand that harmoniously blends European refinement with California spirit.
Nestled along the tranquil banks of Wine Creek, the estate is a reflection of its heritage. Mission-style architecture, white stucco walls, and a terracotta bell tower evoke a sense of timeless elegance. It’s 61 acres of sustainably farmed benchland vineyards are carefully cultivated to showcase the unique character of each site—uniting thoughtful viticulture with the valley’s natural bounty.
Today, Michel-Schlumberger remains committed to crafting wines of distinction—wines shaped by place, time, and tradition, with a clear vision for the future.
