Outdoor Movies in Sonoma County

Long summer nights in Sonoma County beg for unique outdoor experiences, and few are as unique as an outdoor movie beneath the stars in Wine Country. Whether drive-in movies are a summer tradition or a replacement for indoor movies on the big screen, you’ll find a number of unique outdoor movie experiences in Sonoma County. Pack a picnic, never complete without local Sonoma County food and drinks, and kick back old school with this lineup of drive-in movies this summer.

For fan-favorites, spend your evenings at Carpool Cinema in Luther Burbank Center. Or, take part in Alexander Valley Film Society’s plethora of movie showings, consisting of both drive-in and live streaming classics, independent films, and documentaries. For a family-friendly option, enjoy Movies in the Park in Healdsburg. There’s something for everyone during this summer of drive-ins in Sonoma County.

Alexander Valley Film Society Cinema, Cloverdale

Luckily for drive-in movie fans, Alexander Valley Film Society is continuing their pop-up drive-in series at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair with modifications. Drive-ins begin at sundown featuring movies that include Wonder Woman and Grand Budapest Hotel, while more summer titles will be released in the coming weeks. Tickets can be purchased on their website. In addition to drive-ins, AVFS’ Shelter in Place series is offering a variety of virtual programming, including their #FilmFoodWine movie chats and Arthouse Streaming Series.

Carpool Cinema at Luther Burbank Center, Santa Rosa

Featuring films old and new, the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, in collaboration with Santa Rosa Cinema, shows movies every Wednesday and Saturday in their parking lot beginning at sunset. Take a trip to escape the summer heat with Frozen or venture back in time with A League of Their Own. Superhero fans rest assured, with Guardians of the Galaxy scheduled for August 5. Tickets can be purchased online in advance and sound is streamed through the car FM radio.
