Stockhome Restaurant’s Midsummer Celebration on June 22, 2019

Stockhome opened last August in downtown Petaluma, impressing diners with its unique cuisine of Swedish food accented with Mediterranean recipes. And it’s done a remarkable thing, too, impressing the Michelin Guide critics, who just awarded the restaurant a coveted Bib Gourmand Award.

So to honor the designation, the casual, counter service spot is hosting a marvelous, multi-course Midsummer Celebration feast on Saturday June 22, 2019.  The owners, husband-and-wife team of chef Roberth and Andrea Sundell, are offering three seatings at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., with tickets available by reservation.

The Bib is bestowed on remarkable eateries that serve high-quality meals which include two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less. The regular Stockhome menu features dishes like lamb-beef kebab platters with fries of basmati saffron rice, garlic yogurt and salad ($14), a veggie and falafel platter ($12), hearty pita wraps ($9-$11), classic herring salad ($12), and bratwurst ($8).

The most expensive entrees come in at $25 for a New York steak smothered in café de Paris butter, $24 for Weiner schnitzel with roasted new potato and peas, and $20 for roast chicken over a pilaf of pearl barely, hen of the woods mushrooms and fresh herbs with a side salad, roasted tomato, and lemon.

The June 22 feast will salute the Swedish midsummer, a tradition that is one of the most important days of the year, rivaling Christmas with its festive spirit and traditions. It honors summer solstice, the longest day of the year, with dancing around a midsummer pole (or maypole). There will be no poles to swing around at Stockhome, but the menu features plenty of authentic, mouthwatering dishes, served family style. It’s an opportunity to savor significant Swedish fare rich with exotic fish, meats, cheeses and spices.
