Barlow Community Market’s 50th Anniversary Party

Community Market celebrates 50 years with a free outdoor concert and family-friendly bash!

Community Market is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a full day of music, joy, and community, featuring a free outdoor concert on Saturday, June 28, at its Sebastopol store. The stage will come alive with two powerhouse local bands, incredible energy, and a whole lot of local love.

Black Sheep Brass Band kicks things off from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a brassy blast of New Orleans–style street funk. Their sound fuses second-line rhythms with funk and soul, bringing a high-energy parade feel that’s impossible not to dance to.

Sol Horizon closes out the evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with its signature blend of roots reggae, rock, and conscious lyrics. Known for its electric live shows and messages of unity and resistance, Sol Horizon is a staple of Northern California’s activist music scene.

Between sets, around 6 p.m., things get extra groovy with a 1970s costume contest honoring the year Community Market was founded. Dress up for a chance to win a $150, $100, or $50 Community Market gift card.

The concert is part of Community Market’s 50th Anniversary Bash, running from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will also include:

A kids' tent with hands-on crafts from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A visit from Goatlandia. 

Tastings from Straus Ice Cream and Uproot Origin. 

Special red-tag grocery discounts and a limited-edition hot bar menu.

This is more than just a show — it’s a celebration of five decades of people-powered and worker-run goodness. Everyone is welcome, from locals to visitors who want to see what Sonoma Wine Country is all about!
