Death of a Star

The end of a star can take many forms, most of them determined by the stars mass, once fusion at its core can no longer support it. This talk will explore how stars begin their life cycle and how differences in mass determine how they will end.
An Observing Lab offers the chance to learn about the astrophysics of stars and the fascinating objects that result objects well within reach of the telescopes at the Robert Ferguson Observatory. Participants are encouraged to take observing notes and dress warmly to make the most of viewing through the 8-inch refractor, the 40-inch reflector, and the personal telescopes of our knowledgeable docents. Some of the most impressive observations will come from using the CCD camera on the 20-inch Ritchey-Chrétien reflector to see deep-sky objects.
