Fermented Veggie Workshop

The workshop begins with an introduction to fermentation, where you’ll learn the basic principles behind the process and its role in food preservation and flavor development. There will be book resources to peruse, along with PDF handouts available for reference. From there, you’ll explore fermentation essentials, including the tools, ingredients, and environments needed for successful fermentation.

This is a hands-on experience where you’ll roll up your sleeves and create your own fermented sauerkraut or mixed vegetables. You’ll also learn about common pitfalls and how to troubleshoot fermentation challenges, along with safety measures to ensure your ferments are both successful and safe. To complete the experience, you’ll enjoy a tasting of various fermented foods prepared by Jess. These workshops are perfect for both beginners and enthusiasts. Whether you’re curious about fermentation, a foodie eager to expand your culinary skills, or someone interested in the health benefits of fermented foods, this workshop offers a comprehensive and approachable introduction.

The cost is $60 and includes a Be Your Own Brine Babe Fermentation Kit with a jar, glass weight, airlock, silicone lid, salt, seasoning, and instructions. Organic vegetables and herbs will also be provided for you to create your own fermented products, along with extra handouts to take home.

Participants should bring a large mixing bowl, a knife, and a cutting board to use during the class. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a newfound understanding of fermentation, the confidence to create your own ferments at home, and a collection of recipes to inspire your journey. You will also take home your very own fermented creation.

Space is limited, so reserve your spot early to secure your place in this flavorful and educational experience.
