Heirloom Tomato Tasting

Summer is tomato time! Join us for a 90-minute immersive exploration of heirloom tomatoes led by legendary local grower and Gold Ridge Organic Farms neighbor Larry Wagner. This unique event combines education with delicious tastings as you discover the remarkable diversity of heirloom varieties.

Guests will sample roughly ten distinctive tomatoes, from rich, dark-fleshed black and purple varieties to vibrant red, pink, and yellow-orange types. Whether you enjoy them simply with olive oil and salt, want tips for selecting the best cooking varieties, or prefer them fresh, you’ll gain valuable insights into maximizing their flavor.

Larry and his wife, Cris, bring 25 years of experience to this class, growing more than 400 plants and 70-plus varieties each year at Volkerts Family Ranch. Their tomatoes have appeared on restaurant menus, supported local nonprofits, and delighted neighbors across the community, including at our pop-up pizza events.
