Orionids Meteor Shower Viewing

The clear skies of October offer the perfect chance to enjoy the Orionids, one of the year’s most striking meteor showers. Known for their fast, bright streaks, the Orionids are framed by some of the brightest stars in the night sky. Some meteors even produce fireballs, with trails that can linger for minutes.

During this Focus Night program, guests will learn what causes the Orionids and why they occur at this time of year. The evening will explore how meteor showers differ from planets, why many are best viewed after midnight, and what factors affect meteor counts. Attendees will also gain tips to optimize their viewing during the Orionids’ peak.
