Plein Air Watercolor Landscapes Workshop

Spend a day immersed in plein air watercolor landscape painting while taking in the sweeping vistas of Jack London State Historic Park.
Participants will explore both watercolor technique and the core principles of landscape painting, including composition, color temperature, and atmospheric perspective. Learn to create movement and depth in your painting, and gain a new appreciation for the beauty of your surroundings through the process of close observation and careful rendering.
Well start the class with quick thumbnail sketches, then select one composition to focus on throughout the day. Through demonstration and individual instruction, youll learn color mixing and watercolor technique while building your painting step by step.
Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while taking a break, and a lightweight folding chair if you have one. Otherwise seating is at picnic tables and park benches or on the ground. All other materials are provided.
After the workshop, youre invited to continue exploring the parktake a hike, visit the museum, or stroll to the evocative ruins of the Wolf House.
All levels of experience are welcome!
