Ruta a las Secuoyas: Route to the Sequoias

¿Sabías que la especie de árbol más alta del mundo crece aquí, en la montaña de Sonoma? Hace unos doscientos años, el área de Glen Ellen estaba rodeada de enormes secuoyas que tenían más de mil años. Hoy todavía podemos ver algunos de estos árboles en distintas partes del parque, como un recuerdo viviente de aquellos gigantes.

En esta caminata vamos a hablar sobre la biología de las secuoyas y el increíble papel que juegan en el ecosistema. También conoceremos el árbol más viejo del parque.

Did you know that the tallest tree species in the world grows here in Sonoma Mountain? About two hundred years ago, the Glen Ellen area was surrounded by enormous sequoia trees that were over a thousand years old. Today, some of these trees still live in parts of Jack London State Historic Park, a living reminder of those giants. On this hike, guided in Spanish, the group will learn about sequoia biology and the role they play in the ecosystem and visit the oldest tree in the park, the beloved “Grandmother Tree.”
