Second Saturday Cartoonist: Mara Ramirez

Meet, watch, and talk to Ignatz-nominated interdisciplinary artist and educator Mara Ramirez, whose work ruminates on the body in space through metaphor, fantasy, and realism alike. Bending images of biological life, the stories they tell range in content, from poetic meditations on gender to funny and sad character studies in cartoon formats. Ramirez is the creator of Flea (2025 Fieldmouse Press), as well as many short runs of poetry comics from Floss Editions, Irrelevant Press, and (self-published) Freak Comics.

A lifelong zinester and Esnupi lover, Ramirez will be sharing a make-your-own mini-zine project!
