Sonoma County Signature Experience: Turn to The River A Guided Paddle in Petaluma

Discover Petaluma from the water on this Sonoma County Signature Experience, a relaxed guided kayak tour that puts the riverand its place in the life of this San Francisco Bay Area communityinto context.
Launch from the turning basin in the center of downtown Petaluma and paddle the tidal waterway that once served as a saltwater highway, carrying the agricultural bounty of Sonoma County to Gold Rush-era San Francisco. As you paddle, youll explore how the river shaped Petaluma, how the towns relationship with it has changed over time, and how people are reconnecting with the waterway today.
At water level and at an unhurried pace, the river comes into focus not simply as scenery, but as a constant running through Petalumas story. Your guide will share stories of the people, places and industries that shaped the town, along with the people and ideas shaping its waterfront now. Along the way, theres time to notice the wildlife, architecture, working waterfront and little details you might otherwise missand to see how the rivers past, present and future are all part of the Petaluma you see today.
No paddling experience is needed. Stable sit-on-top kayaks, paddles and life jackets are provided, and your guide will help you every step of the way. The experience lasts approximately two hours, including about 90 minutes on the water, and groups are limited to 15 guests.
After your paddle, keep exploring downtown with special perks at select riverside businesses.
