Sonoma Speaker Series: In Conversation with Marie Yovanovitch
Marie Yovanovitch is the author of a New York Times best-selling memoir, Lessons from the Edge. Previously, she served as the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine (2016-2019), the Republic of Armenia (2008-2011) and the Kyrgyz Republic (2005-2008).
In her illustrious career with the U.S. Foreign Service, Ambassador Yovanovitch (ret.) worked tirelessly to confront corruption, poverty, and instability in developing countries in the former Soviet Union. In 2019, she was ousted from her post as Ambassador to Ukraine, following a very public and politically-motivated campaign against her. Later that year, her congressional testimony at President Trump's first impeachment inquiry elevated her as a courageous and dignified voice of truth and defender of democracy at home and abroad.
