Join us for a 3-hour hands-on sourdough making class at Gold Ridge Organic Farms, led by Monica Flaherty of the Sebastopol Sourdough Company. Spend three immersive hours in our charming Apple Cottage learning the art and science of sourdough bread making.
Monica will walk you through everything you need to know how wild yeast and fermentation work, why sourdough differs from commercial yeast bread, and how to read your dough. You'll also cover starter care and feeding, mixing and hydration ratios, shaping and scoring techniques, and the secrets to achieving that perfect crust and open crumb.
Every guest will leave with an active starter, a feeding schedule and care guide, a shaped dough in a banneton ready to bake at home, and their very own apron to take home as a keepsake. The experience also includes a ride across the farm on our beloved apple-themed trolley to the Apple Cottage.
