The Women of Beauty Ranch: In Honor of Women’s History Month

In recognition of Womens History Month, this program celebrates the women whose lives, work, and creativity helped shape the history and landscape of what is now Jack London State Historic Park.
In the five short years Jack London lived at Beauty Ranch, he imagined it on a grand scale. That vision took root and endured through the labor, intelligence, and perseverance of two key women - Charmian Kittredge London and Eliza Shepard. They stewarded the dream, land, and legacy through upheaval and change, long after Jack London was gone.
Lead by the parks Director of Interpretation and Education Programs Kristina Ellis, this two-hour tour of Beauty Ranch and the House of Happy Walls Museum, invites visitors to step into the stories of these remarkable women and discover how a vision became an enduring reality.
